Following rumours that Veteran Nollywood actor Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, professionally known as Olu Jacobs, has passed away, his family has released a video showing that the octogenarian despite his ailing health, is alive kicking. The actor has for a few years been battling the disease dementia with lewy bodies and this has led to periodic claims of his demise by the public.

Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, professionally known as Olu Jacobs was considered one of the most influential African actors of all time. In fact, many people consider him the Morgan Freeman of Africa. Olu Jacobs was honoured with the Industry's Merit Award for Outstanding Achievements in 2013, he J also received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021. Olu Jacobs gradually stopped appearing in movie roles in 2018. However, it wasn't until after he received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021 that his wife Joke Silva finally affirmed the actor's bow out of his career. Nigerians had noticed that he looked very different and rather uncoordinated when he went on stage to receive the award. In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Joke Silva revealed that the actor had been battling a condition called Dementia with Lewy Bodies.
