Balthazar Egonga is making waves in Africa because the Equatoguinean politician who gained infamy after the circulation of over 400 tapes involving his sexual encounters with wives and daughters of prominent individuals in the country, is currently on trial for the mismanagement of a state-owned company under the Ministry of Finance.
The Prosecution has requested that Balthazar Engonga Ebang be handed an 18 year prison sentence, a ban from holding any public office in future and a fine of nearly one billion CFA francs.

Balthazar Egonga's trial commenced on Monday, June 30 and involves several other officials from the public enterprise.
The defense has rejected all charges levelled against its client.
