The National Unity Platform (NUP), which Bobi Wine leads, has formally notified both the police and the Electoral Commission of its rally plans. Meanwhile, President Yoweri Museveni and his ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) will host a rival rally at Kololo, underscoring the growing intensity of Uganda’s election season.

Katwe, known for its vibrant and outspoken community, is set to become a symbolic stage for Bobi Wine’s 2026 campaign launch. NUP leaders have called on authorities to allow free political expression, stressing that rallies are a vital part of public participation and democratic competition.

The simultaneous rallies highlight the sharpening contest between Uganda’s ruling establishment and the rising opposition movement.
