Julius Debrah, Ghana’s Chief of Staff, has urged school authorities to stop using weeding as a form of punishment for students, highlighting its negative impact on perceptions of farming. Speaking at the launch of the School Farm Presidential Initiative, Debrah emphasized that linking agricultural tasks to discipline discourages young people from embracing farming as a viable profession.

He further encouraged the Ghana Education Service (GES) to integrate agriculture into the school curriculum, noting that produce from school farms could significantly reduce feeding costs for Senior High Schools.
