(In Kenya) Violence on the Streets: Outering Road Clashes Spark Fears of Insecurity

Violent clashes between two rival youth groups have brought traffic to a standstill near Kariobangi, Nairobi, along Outering Road.

The cause of the confrontation remains unclear, but tension had reportedly been building for days.

Motorists and pedestrians were advised to avoid the area as chaos intensified, with security forces struggling to restore calm and prevent further escalation.

The violent scenes disrupted normal activity and raised concerns about rising insecurity in the area.

Eyewitnesses said both groups appeared armed and ready for confrontation, suggesting the clash was premeditated.

Businesses closed early as tear gas and shouting filled the air.

Although authorities have been deployed, the situation remained tense into the evening, with many fearing renewed violence if no lasting solution is found.
