Jude Bellingham to undergo shoulder surgery after Real's Club World Cup campaign

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has announced that he will undergo surgery on his injured shoulder following the FIFA Club World Cup. The England international has been dealing with this issue since dislocating his shoulder in a La Liga match back in November 2023. Since then, he has been playing while wearing a brace underneath his jersey to manage the discomfort.

Despite ongoing help from the club’s medical staff, Bellingham admitted that the brace had become a major inconvenience. He said it often shifted during games and required constant adjustments. Speaking after Madrid's 3-1 victory over Pachuca, Bellingham revealed he has reached his limit and is relieved to have a surgery date set.

The surgery is scheduled for shortly after the Club World Cup final. Madrid reportedly decided to postpone the operation so Bellingham could help them secure the international title. Recovery from the procedure is expected to last up to twelve weeks. That puts the start of his La Liga campaign and England's September international matches against Serbia and Andorra at risk.

Bellingham’s physical condition has been carefully monitored by Real Madrid's medical team throughout the season. He credited their support with helping him continue playing through the pain. However, he now feels it is time to fully heal and return to peak condition.

Bellingham continued to contribute on the field despite his injury, scoring a goal in Real Madrid’s 3-1 Club World Cup win over Pachuca. The match also marked the first victory for Madrid’s new manager Xabi Alonso, making it a significant moment for the club and the player.

The goal came just a day after his younger brother, Jobe Bellingham, scored for Borussia Dortmund. Jude acknowledged the friendly sibling rivalry that has grown between them, joking that his family and teammates were teasing him after Jobe’s goal. “Everyone’s been caning me yesterday, saying he’s better than me,” Jude said. “We’re one-one now and we’ll see for the rest of the tournament.”

This light-hearted family competition added another layer to the drama surrounding Jude’s current campaign. Despite his health concerns, he has remained a key player for Real Madrid both domestically and internationally. His leadership and performances have continued to earn praise from fans and pundits alike.

The match against Pachuca showcased not only Bellingham’s resilience but also the potential of Real Madrid under new management. Xabi Alonso, a former club legend as a player, earned his first win as manager in a tournament that Madrid is aiming to win for global glory.

Although surgery will sideline Jude for a few weeks, his contribution to the Club World Cup and ongoing commitment to the team highlight his professionalism and dedication. His eventual return is eagerly awaited by both club and country as they prepare for crucial competitions in the latter half of 2025.
