Kenya Deputy President Kithure Kindiki Meets Mt Kenya Artists: Govt Pledges Support to Creative Industry

 

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki welcomed prominent Mount Kenya artists, including Samidoh and Ben Githae, to a breakfast meeting at Karen. 

The discussion centred on strengthening government support for the creative industry. 

Kindiki emphasised better policies, copyright protection, and regular dialogue with artists to unlock the sector’s potential and empower creatives through meaningful, long-term reforms.

Several Mount Kenya MPs, such as Alice Ng’ang’a and Elijah Njoroge, attended and backed legislative moves to boost the creative economy. 

Kindiki underscored that the creative sector isn’t just entertainment but a powerful economic driver.

He called for stronger intellectual property laws and consistent artist engagement. 

The meeting marked a shift in how government views artists, no longer as fringe figures, but as stakeholders in national development.
