Nigerian Army Confirms Murder of 16 Year Old Protester in Zaria

The Nigerian Army has via a press statement signed by its Director of Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, confirmed the unfortunate murder of a 16 year old protester, Ismail Mohammed, by a soldier in Zaria. The press statement alleged that the firing shot that caused the death of the 16 year old was intended as a warning shot to disperse hoodlums who had gathered in Samaru, Zaria, and in the process, defied the curfew imposed by the Kano state government. This narrative by the Nigerian Army defies the interview granted the press by Mallam Mohammed, father of the 16 year old, who alleged that the soldier has followed his son home and shot him dead.
