Following the withdrawal Chidinma Adetshina from The Miss South Africa 20#4 beauty pageant as a result of controversy surrounding her true nationality and the subsequent emergence of Mia Le Roux as Miss South Africa 2024, Nigerians have taken to various social media platforms to harshly criticize South Africa for choosing a "granddaughter" of the colonial masters as the face of their country. Mia Le Roux is a descendant of Dutch settlers in South Africa who form the minority whites of the South African population.

Referring to South Africans as "slaves" for giving the Miss South Africa crown to Mia Le Roux, Nigerians stated South African anti-apartheid activist and deceased president of the country, Nelson Mandela, would be rolling in his grave at this people's glorification of the colonialists. Hinting that the crown was handed Mia Le Roux in a bid to spite Nigerians and black South Africans, Nigerian X users urged South Africans to rid themselves of the bile and hate they've often exhibited towards Nigerians.
