Investigative journalist and reporter David Hundenyin, has in an exposé, revealed that he was offered the sum of 800,000 naira( $ 500) by an international NGO named Dialogue Earth, to write an article criticizing the recently opened Dangote Refinery. The journalist stated that the NGO asked him to write that the refinery was terrible for the environment as a result of "environmental concerns" and "climate change". Sharing receipts of the request to sabotage the refinery, David Hundenyin asserted his belief that the NGO's real motive regarding a damaging article against the refinery, is to sabotage Africa's production power and keep the continent dependent on western oil interests.

The investigative journalist declared that American and European states have repeatedly worked to keep Africa exactly as poor as it is in order to maintain the power status quo. Emphasizing that he was no fan of The monopolist practices of the Dangote Refinery CEO, entrepreneur Aliko Dangote, Mr Hundenyin further asserted that this did not make him biased to no recognise an intention to sabotage Nigeria and the country's oil production attempt.
