Video: Edo Market Women Protest Against Iyaloja General

 In a video making the rounds on the internet, traders in Edo state have taken to the streets to protest the alleged attempt at installing a new market leader by the Iyaloja General of Lagos, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo. The market women in expressing their grievance emphasized that The Iyaloja of Lagos has no business with the trading affairs of Edo state and urged her to remain in Lagos which is considered her territory.

Leader of The Edo Market Women Association, Blackky Ogiamen, while speaking on behalf of the traders emphasized to Folasade Tinubu-Ojo that she had no control over the running of the markets in Edo state or the activities of the women as these they were only answerable to the traditional ruler, Oba of Benin, who is regarded as their "grandfather". The Leader of The Market Women Association expressed concern over the Iyaloja General's attempt to turn the leadership of the association into a political one because the association was not controlled by any leader except the  governor of the state at any given time.
