Oro Festival: LASG Claims Ignorance

 Following the circulated public announcement of the traditional Oro Festival, scheduled to commence on the same day as the #EndBadGovernance nationwide protests scheduled for 1st August, the Lagos State Government has denied knowledge of responsibility for the coincidence of both dates. While speaking with the press, the governor's chief press secretary, Gboyega Akosile, said no one questions the government when religions choose to hold their activities.

Comparing the Oro Festival to other religious activities performed in the country, The Press Secretary emphasized that the same respect should be maintained for traditional worshippers because they have the right to worship according to the constitution and can go about their lawful exercises. In Gboyega Akosile's words: "The protesters have their rights just like the traditional worshippers who want to perform their activities too. What is our business in that?"
