The Lagos State Government has issued stern warning to clubs and other entertainment centers to desist from selling and distributing counterfeit and adulterated liquor to patrons and customers. The warning was issued by Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr Idris Aregbe, on a post made on his official Instagram account. This is in light of recent accusations of sales of fake drinks and adulterated liquor, levelled against entertainment establishments by patrons.

Emphasizing the risks of counterfeit or adulterated drinks on public health, the special adviser urged the clubs and similar establishments to be vigilant in their purchase of drinks so as not to serve poisonous substances go customers. Mr Aregbe assured the public of a thorough initiative to eliminate fake drinks from local markets and stores, involving collaboration with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Lagos State Safety Commission.
