A woman identified as Hope Nwala has doused her husband Mr Ekelediri Nwankwo in hot oil after a fight which took place in their home located in Okehi Community of the Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State. Narrating the ordeal that has left him disfigured, the husband stated that trouble had started in his home after he admonished his wife's younger sister to desist from sleeping on his matrimonial bed. Mr Ekelediri Nwankwo further added that he had asked the said sister-in-law to move out of his house as a result of her intolerable manner of dressing. He also alleged that asides scalding him with hot oil, his wife had repeatedly hit him with a hammer.

The alleged victim of domestic violence revealed that before his wife bathed him in oil, he had found her in company of an unknown male. In Mr Nwankwo's words; “I also saw my wife alone with one tall black guy in the shop I rented for her, not that he is in for business, he followed my wife and sister here and there, with all these, I gave that her younger sister two thousand naira transport fare to go home so that I can actually understand what is going on in my house, but my wife got upset, while I went to bed to sleep, she used boiled groundnut oil on me, then started hitting me with hammer"
