According to the letter read by the Senate President, Ifeanyi Ubah's defection to the APC was as a result of irreconcilable differences in the YPP. The letter also stated that the senator's decision to move to the APC was in the interests of his constituents. The type of "irreconcilable differences" resulting in this defection remains unclear. Ifeanyi Ubah who's also an entrepreneur and CEO of Capital Oil, was the sole member of the YPP in the 10th Senate before his defection to the APC. In 2014, Ifeanyi Ubah lost at the 2014 Anambra gubernatorial electoral poll under the platform of the Labour Party.
