Lil Nas X, the Grammy-winning rapper best known for his global hit “Old Town Road,” was arrested in Los Angeles on Thursday morning after a bizarre incident on Ventura Boulevard. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were called to the scene at around 5:30 a.m. local time following reports of a man walking in the street in just underwear and cowboy boots. Police spokesperson Charles Miller confirmed that Lil Nas X was then transported to hospital for treatment related to a possible overdose. Videos later surfaced on TMZ appearing to show the rapper dancing in the street and inviting strangers to “come to the party.” The footage quickly went viral online, sparking both concern and jokes from fans.

Representatives for Lil Nas X have yet to issue an official comment. The arrest comes just months before the scheduled release of his much-anticipated second studio album, Dreamboy, which the rapper has been teasing on social media. The incident has left fans shocked, as many await updates on his health and legal situation.

Lil Nas X rose to international fame in 2019 with Old Town Road, a genre-bending country rap anthem that broke music industry records by holding the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 17 weeks. The song earned him two Grammy Awards and made him the first openly gay man to win a Country Music Association award. Since then, he has become one of the most outspoken and provocative figures in pop culture, often pushing boundaries through his music videos, fashion, and social media presence.

His follow-up hit, Montero (Call Me By Your Name), generated controversy for its explicit themes and visuals, drawing backlash from conservatives in the United States. Rather than back down, Lil Nas X leaned into the criticism, creating viral responses that further boosted his popularity among younger audiences. Known for his boldness and unapologetic persona, he has continued to dominate the conversation around music and identity.

The latest arrest, however, has cast a shadow over the lead-up to his upcoming album Dreamboy. With fans expressing concern about his health after reports of a suspected overdose, the focus has shifted from his music rollout to his personal wellbeing. The incident highlights the intense pressures of fame and scrutiny that surround the 25-year-old star.
