(In Kenya) President Ruto Presides Over Historic NYS Pass-Out Parade in Gilgil


President William Ruto presided over the 89th National Youth Service (NYS) pass-out parade in Gilgil, where more than 18,000 recruits graduated after six months of training. The colorful ceremony, attended by leaders including Governor Susan Kihika and MP Martha Wangari, featured drills, parades, and demonstrations showcasing the recruits’ skills.

During the event, Ruto announced that 10,000 new police officers will be recruited next month, with 4,000 slots reserved for NYS graduates. He further pledged to expand opportunities for young people by prioritizing NYS alumni in police and military recruitment, as well as affordable housing projects.




The President also directed improvements at the Gilgil campus, including a new kitchen facility and upgraded amenities to enhance training conditions. This pass-out parade, the largest in NYS history, underscores the institution’s expanding role in equipping youth with technical, vocational, and entrepreneurial skills to drive national development.
