A horrifying attack occurred on Wednesday morning at the Annunciation Church and school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A 23-year-old individual, identified as Robin Westman, opened fire from outside the building using a rifle, shotgun, and pistol. The attack happened during a children's Mass service, tragically killing two students aged eight and ten and injuring 17 others. Some children were seriously hurt, and one boy described how a friend saved him by shielding his body.

The attacker, who died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was found with a smoke bomb and had scheduled a disturbing online post to go live at the time of the shooting. Authorities are investigating whether any shots were fired inside the church or only from outside, as no bullet casings were found indoors. The Annunciation Church serves as both a place of worship and a school for children between the ages of five and fourteen.
Eyewitnesses described hearing loud gunfire, and police arrived quickly after receiving 911 calls just before 8:00 a.m. Investigators also discovered the shooter’s mother had worked at the school, which is located in a quiet residential neighborhood.
Authorities found a note scheduled to be published online at the time of the shooting, but its contents have not been disclosed. Westman's mother previously worked at the school, and it's unclear if this is linked to the attack.
President Donald Trump expressed deep condolences and offered assistance, ordering US flags to be flown at half-mast at the White House. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz described the situation as "all too common" and hoped no community or school would ever have to go through such a day.
The community is rallying around the victims' families, offering support and prayers during this difficult time.
