Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is closing in on a move to Bayern Munich after the two clubs agreed terms for a loan deal with an option to buy. The Blues will receive £13m as an initial loan fee, while Bayern will have the chance to make the transfer permanent for £56m next summer. A sell-on clause has also been inserted into the agreement, ensuring Chelsea could benefit from any future transfer if Jackson succeeds in Germany.
The 24-year-old has already agreed a pre-contract with Bayern and has been granted permission to travel to complete the formalities. Jackson has struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge this season following the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. His last appearance for Chelsea came as a substitute in July during the Club World Cup semi-final victory over Fluminense. He was an unused substitute in the final against Paris Saint-Germain and has not featured in either of Chelsea’s first two Premier League games.

With his opportunities drying up in London, the Senegal international is now set to test himself in the Bundesliga, where Bayern Munich see him as an additional attacking option to bolster their squad.
Nicolas Jackson joined Chelsea in 2023 from Villarreal and arrived with a strong reputation for pace and movement across the forward line. In the Premier League, he has managed 24 goals in 65 appearances, a respectable tally but one that has not lived up to statistical expectations. According to Opta, he has underperformed his expected goals figure by seven over the past two years, the second-largest negative gap of any striker in the league.
A major issue has been his conversion rate in what are classed as ‘big chances’. Jackson has scored only 18 out of 61 such opportunities, equating to a 29 percent success rate. That is well below the standard of elite forwards, who typically convert closer to 40 percent or higher. This inconsistency in front of goal has contributed to doubts about his ability to lead the line for Chelsea on a regular basis.

With Bayern Munich looking for attacking reinforcements, Jackson will have the chance to rebuild confidence and sharpen his finishing in a new environment. For Chelsea, the loan move reduces the squad congestion while offering the potential of a significant permanent fee. Both clubs could benefit if the striker thrives in Munich.
