Taifa Care Milestone: Over 24 Million Kenyans Enrolled in Push for Universal Health Coverage

Deputy President Kindiki has announced a significant achievement for Kenya’s Taifa Care, with over 24 million citizens now enrolled in the national health insurance scheme. Launched under the Social Health Authority, the program is a cornerstone of the government’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage, prioritizing accessible healthcare for all, particularly low-income households.

The government has allocated KSh 7.8 billion to enhance services for chronic and critical care, with plans to introduce a Means Testing Tool to ensure equitable premium rates.
