South Africa Mourns Dr. SD Gumbi, Beloved Pentecostal Clergyman and Televangelist, Dead at 66


Dr. Simon "SD" Gumbi, a cherished Pentecostal clergyman, televangelist, and motivational speaker, passed away on Monday evening, July 14, 2025, at the age of 66 after a prolonged illness. Known for his iconic catchphrase "U-Amen Usekhona?", Gumbi had been wheelchair-bound following the amputation of his right leg prior to his death.



Rising to prominence in the 1990s, Gumbi captivated audiences with his powerful sermons on Ukhozi FM’s Sunday night programs and Unkulunkulu Nomuntu Omusha. His dynamic preaching and inspirational messages left a lasting impact on South Africa’s Christian community.
