(In Ghana) Kumawood Actor Big Akwes Faces Backlash for Threatening Remarks Against Cina Soul in Interview

Big Akwes, a prominent Kumawood actor, has drawn intense scrutiny in Ghana following disturbing comments made during a Bryt TV interview on July 1, 2025, where he participated in a Kiss-Marry-Kill game. When asked to choose between colleague actress Vivian Jill and singer-songwriter Cina Soul, Akwes stated he would marry Vivian Jill. However, his response took a shocking turn when he described, in graphic detail, how he would “kill Cina Soul” by using a magic mirror to summon her spiritually, repeatedly stabbing her with a knife, and drinking her blood.

The remarks prompted Cina Soul, whose real name is Christie Quincyna Quarcoopome, to express deep fear for her safety. In a post on X, she petitioned the Ghana Police Service and the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Sam George, urging swift action against Akwes. She stated she felt “genuinely threatened” by his vivid and violent description, sparking widespread outrage among fans and public figures.

The incident has fueled condemnation of both Akwes and Bryt TV for airing the segment, with many calling for accountability and stricter regulations on media content. Cina Soul’s plea has garnered significant support, amplifying demands for the Ghana Police Service to investigate the actor’s threatening remarks. The controversy has reignited discussions about responsible broadcasting and the impact of harmful rhetoric in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
