Tottenham Closing In on Thomas Frank as New Head Coach
Tottenham Hotspur are progressing towards appointing Brentford manager Thomas Frank as their new head coach following the recent dismissal of Ange Postecoglou. Frank, a 51-year-old Danish coach, has emerged as a top candidate for the role. Brentford are preparing for an official approach from Spurs, although no formal contact between the clubs has been confirmed yet.If Tottenham proceed, they will have to pay significant compensation to secure Frank, whose current contract at Brentford runs until 2027.
The compensation package is expected to exceed ten million pounds, with the total potentially increasing depending on how many backroom staff Frank would bring with him.Postecoglou was sacked just over two weeks after guiding Spurs to a Europa League triumph, their first major trophy in 17 years. However, his dismissal followed a dismal domestic campaign that saw Tottenham finish 17th in the Premier League, losing 22 of their 38 matches.Frank has been with Brentford since 2018 and successfully led them into the Premier League by winning the Championship play-off final in 2021. Despite operating on a limited budget, he helped the club achieve a 10th-place finish this season, ending 18 points and seven positions ahead of Tottenham.
In addition to changes in management, Spurs are undergoing a broader internal restructure. Chief football officer Scott Munn is expected to leave the club this week. Munn joined in 2023 and played a key role in appointing Postecoglou. His exit follows other executive changes, including the departure of director Donna Cullen and the recent arrival of Vinai Venkatesham as chief executive.Former managing director Fabio Paratici is also in discussions about a potential return once his FIFA ban for financial irregularities during his time at Juventus expires in July.
He has been working with Tottenham in a consultancy role and is said to be interested in a permanent return.
