Man United are pushing to sign Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo!  The star forward scored 20 goals last season, just one shy of United's entire attack!

Manchester United are actively pursuing Brentford's prolific forward Bryan Mbeumo in the summer transfer window, aiming to bolster their attack after a dismal 2024/25 season. Mbeumo, who scored an impressive 20 Premier League goals, nearly matched the combined output of United’s forwards (21 goals), highlighting their urgent need for firepower.

The 25-year-old Cameroon international has caught the attention of new manager Ruben Amorim, who sees him as a perfect fit for his 3-4-2-1 system, potentially playing as a number 10 alongside Matheus Cunha, whose £62.5m move from Wolves is nearing completion. Mbeumo’s versatility, speed, and clinical finishing make him a prime target, but Brentford value him at around £50m-£60m, with his contract entering its final year, though extendable by 12 months.

United face competition from Newcastle, Arsenal, and Tottenham, but reports suggest Mbeumo favors a move to Old Trafford, encouraged by Amorim’s attacking philosophy. Brentford’s Thomas Frank has admitted the club is open to selling if the price is right, acknowledging their status as a selling club. However, United’s financial constraints, compounded by Profit and Sustainability Rules, mean they may need to offload players like Antony or Marcus Rashford to fund the deal. The Red Devils’ 15th-place finish and lack of Champions League football could complicate negotiations, as rivals like Newcastle offer European competition.

Mbeumo’s 28 goal contributions last season underline his potential to transform United’s attack, which struggled with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee managing just 17 goals combined. As United aim to rebuild, securing Mbeumo could be a statement signing, but they must act swiftly to outmaneuver competitors and meet Brentford’s steep valuation.
