Jobe Bellingham has completed a move to Borussia Dortmund from Sunderland, signing a five-year contract until June 2030. The 19-year-old midfielder was transferred for a club record fee believed to be 32 million euros (around 27 million pounds), with an additional 5 million euros in performance-based add-ons.
Bellingham joined Sunderland in 2023 and quickly became a key player, making 90 appearances and helping the team achieve promotion to the Premier League last season. His impressive performances earned him the Championship Young Player of the Season award.
Before Sunderland, Bellingham developed at Birmingham City, where he also began his senior career. In an emotional farewell to Sunderland fans, he thanked them for their support and said he would always carry their influence with him throughout his career.
The timing of the deal means Bellingham will be eligible to play for Dortmund in the upcoming Club World Cup, which starts on Sunday. Dortmund's first match in the tournament will be against Brazilian side Fluminense on 17 June.
Additionally, Bellingham has been selected for England’s squad for the European Under-21 Championship taking place in Slovakia from 11 to 28 June. England coach Lee Carsley confirmed that players will be allowed to leave the squad temporarily to participate in the Club World Cup if selected.
Jobe Bellingham is following the path of his older brother, Jude Bellingham, who also came through Birmingham City’s youth system before spending three years at Dortmund. Jude now plays for Real Madrid. Dortmund, who finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season and qualified for the Champions League, continue to invest in young English talent.

Britain, along with other international allies, plans to impose sanctions on two far-right Israeli ministers, Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, in response to their conduct during the Gaza conflict. The UK will freeze their assets and impose travel bans.
London's move aligns with actions taken by Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and others. The UK government has also increased pressure on Israel to end the blockade on Gaza, citing warnings of imminent famine.
