"F1: The Movie," directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, has made a strong debut at the US and Canadian box office, earning an impressive $55.6 million in its opening weekend. This marks a significant theatrical breakthrough for Apple, as it is their first major success on the big screen. The film stars Brad Pitt and has been praised for its thrilling racing sequences, solid performances, and high production value.
Globally, the film raked in $144 million during its opening weekend, including $88.4 million from international markets. This makes it Apple’s biggest theatrical release to date. Critics and audiences alike have given positive feedback, especially for the film’s adrenaline-fueled action scenes and Pitt’s dynamic performance.
The film had a hefty production budget of approximately $200 million, with an additional $125 million allocated for global marketing. This brings the total investment to around $325 million. To break even, the film is projected to need at least $600 million in global box office revenue, making it Apple’s most expensive movie venture so far.
"F1: The Movie" has managed to tap into a broad audience base, appealing to nostalgic Gen X viewers, teens, and fans of motorsport and the "Cobra Kai" series. Its early box office results suggest it could become a long-running hit if momentum continues.
Within just 72 hours of release, the film has already made back nearly half of its production and marketing costs, reflecting strong early support. With Brad Pitt’s star power and the growing global popularity of Formula 1, the movie is positioned to be a major player in the summer box office race.
