Suicide Car Bomber Attacks School Bus in Southwestern Pakistan, Killing Five A suicide car bombing hit a school bus in southwestern Pakistan on Wednesday, killing five people, including at least three children, and injuring 38 others. The attack happened on the outskirts of Khuduzar as the bus was taking children to a military-run school. Security forces arrived quickly, sealed off the area, and transported the victims to hospitals. Local TV showed images of the damaged bus and debris. No group has claimed responsibility, but suspicion points to Baloch separatists, particularly the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack, calling those responsible "beasts" and vowing justice. The death toll was initially reported as four children but later revised to include two adults; officials fear more casualties as some children remain in critical condition. Pakistan’s military accused India of planning the attack through its proxies in Balochistan, a claim India has denied. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also blamed India, claiming the attack shows hostility toward education in the region.
Balochistan is Pakistan’s largest but least populated province and a center of insurgent activity. Earlier this year, BLA fighters killed 33 people in an attack on a train. The group has vowed to continue fighting for independence. Attacks on schools are rare but not unheard of in the area. Pakistan's most deadly school attack was in 2014 when the Taliban killed 154 people in Peshawar.
