(South Africa) Mpumalanga convener Mary Phadi Demands Floyd Shivambu's Ouster in Viral Video, Criticizing MK Party Faction's Support

Mary Phadi, previously the MK Party’s Mpumalanga convener, has captured South Africa’s attention with a fiery video condemning the party’s secretary-general, Floyd Shivambu. In the widely shared clip, Phadi passionately demanded Shivambu’s removal from his leadership role, accusing him of divisive actions within the MK Party. Her scathing remarks targeted a faction of party members who recently declared their support for Shivambu, a move she labeled as misguided and detrimental to the party’s unity and objectives. Phadi’s bold stance has ignited intense discussions across social media and political circles, exposing deep-seated tensions within the MK Party.

Her criticism comes at a critical time for the party, which has been navigating internal challenges and public scrutiny. Phadi’s video has amplified debates about leadership and loyalty, with some praising her courage to speak out while others question her approach, citing potential risks to party cohesion. The controversy has also drawn attention to the MK Party’s broader strategic direction, as factions grapple for influence. Phadi’s outspoken intervention, coupled with her past role as a prominent party figure, has positioned her as a central figure in South Africa’s political discourse, fueling conversations about the MK Party’s future.

Mary Phadi emphatically dissociated from a faction allegedly using her name to campaign in the province.  Accusing Floyd Shivambu of creating chaos within the party, the former convener declared that 95% of the party members want the Secretary General gone.
