Kosovo’s parliament has failed to elect a new speaker for the 15th consecutive time, raising fears of an economic and funding crisis. The ongoing deadlock has prevented Prime Minister Albin Kurti from forming a coalition government, as his candidate for speaker, Albulena Haxhiu, fell short of the required votes. Experts warn that if the stalemate persists, Kosovo could lose vital financial support from the European Union and the World Bank, jeopardizing projects worth hundreds of millions in sectors like health, education, and green energy. Despite assurances from officials that EU funds would not be at risk, the political impasse continues amid tensions with Serbia and recent EU funding cuts.
