 Oluwatuyi Olasoji, the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) for Akure South Local Government in Ondo State, tragically passed away after collapsing at a filling station while trying to buy fuel . This incident occurred amid the ongoing fuel scarcity crisis in Nigeria, which has led to long queues at petrol stations and skyrocketing transport fares .


According to reports, Olasoji slumped while waiting to purchase Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at a filling station in Akure, Ondo State . He was rushed to the Federal Medical Center in Owo, where he underwent surgery, but unfortunately, he didn't survive .

Fuel scarcity has worsened in recent weeks, with long queues forming at petrol stations nationwide. This has caused severe traffic disruptions and led to increased transport fares.Motorists have expressed frustration, and commuters are being left stranded at bus stops due to doubled transport fares.

The fuel scarcity crisis in Nigeria has been intensifying, with many commuters left stranded due to the lack of fuel . The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has assured the public that conditions would improve in the coming days, and the anticipated start of fuel lifting from the Dangote Refinery, scheduled for mid-September, is expected to alleviate some of the supply issues .

Regarding potential relief from the Dangote Refinery, the NNPCL noted that it was awaiting the September 15 timeline for petrol lifting. This development is seen as a possible solution to the recurring fuel shortages.
