Explaining his history with that branch of The Christ Embassy Church in his home city, Rema stated that when he lost his father at the age of 8, the church had embraced his family and opened a shop for a mother. The now 24 year old music star also said that his mother had gone on to take care of the family with the proceeds from the shop. In the singer's words: "When I was eight year old, when I lost my dad, we felt very lost and abandoned. All that we had was taken from us and we felt very alone and I remember at the time Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas, the pastors of this church, they opened a shop for my mum and that was what she managed to take care of us.”
