President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been harshly criticized on social media for his sympathy tweet to former US president and current presidential candidate, Donald Trump, following the assassination attempt on the politician at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. In his tweet, president Tinubu declared the attack on Donald Trump "distasteful" and going beyond the pale of democratic norms while emphatically stating that Nigeria stands in solidarity with America at this time.

Reacting harshly to the president's commiseratory tweet to Donald Trump and The US, Nigerians have labelled the president a hypocrite who has failed to remove the log in his own eye. Angry netizens further emphasized that President Tinubu had done nothing to curb the violence in his own country yet remembered to sympathize with Trump and The US. The president was further reminded that he had been governor of Lagos in 2006 when gubernatorial hopeful, Funsho Williams, was was found bound, strangled, and stabbed at his home in Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, an exclusive and wealthy neighborhood in Lagos. President Tinubu has been passionately asked to answer the question: "What Happened to Funsho Williams?"
