Nollywood actor and producer Patrick Doyle on his Facebook page, put up a post slamming singer and songwriter Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu professionally known as Burna Boy. In his post, Patrick Doyle stated that Burna Boy had "done nothing by himself that can be remotely described as great." While emphasizing that the recognition the singer has continued to enjoy is undeserved, the actor said veteran musicians like Sunny Ade, Fela Anikulapo and I.K Dairo, paved the way for the likes of Burna, who need to be “respectful of their diligent and truly pioneering predecessors.”

Netizens have expressed mixed reactions on Patrick Doyle's attack of music star Burna Boy with some in agreement with the veteran actor and affirming Burna Boy's rudeness and arrogance. Yet others warned that how the singer chooses to manage his career and conduct his personal affairs remains no one's business and tagged Patrick Doyle's criticism of Burna Boy an "unprovoked attack" unbefitting an "old man" like himself. Burna Boy has been the subject of numerous controversies revolving around his seemingly temperamental nature and disrespect of his fans.
