Simon Ekpa In Trouble As The Finnish Government Goes After Him

 


On February 15th, 2023, the Nigerian minister of foreign affairs, Geofrey Onyeama summoned Finland Ambassador to Nigeria, Leena Pylvanainen over Simon Ekpa's inciting appeals to his numerous followers to disrupt forthcoming elections in the southeastern part of the country. 

Simon Ekpa had in several podcast, reiterated that the 2023 general elections will not hold in the southeastern Nigeria unless a referendum for the restoration of Biafra is held in the region.  

The Finnish ambassador to Nigeria, Pylvanainen while reacting to the complaint from the Nigeria's minister of foreign  affairs, assured that the Finnish government was cooperating with the Nigeria authority to ensure that Simon Ekpa's alleged excesses, are limited.

"We do have this irritant, as you call it on our bilateral agenda. And it is a topic on which we have been cooperating, our authorities have been cooperating, there have been contacts between the law enforcement agencies of Nigeria and Finland on this topic,” she said.

Simon Ekpa had declared that there will be mandatory sit at home across the southeastern states from February 22nd to March 14th, 2023. According to him, the sit at home was necessary to prevent the residents of the states from participating in the 2023 elections.
