Tiwa Savage Bags Honorary Doctorate

Singer, Tiwa Savage has received an honorary doctorate degree in Music from her alma mater, University of Kent in the United Kingdom.  According to a tweet by the university, the Queen of Afrobeats received the honorary doctorate at Canterbury Cathedral on Friday 15, July 2022. Tiwa Savage previously bagged a first degree in accounting from the same university.

Tiwa Savage started her singing career as backup vocalist for English singer George Michael, at the age of 16. In 2006, she participated in the UK edition of The X Factor where she was the 12th person to get evicted of the top 24 contestants. Tiwa Savage returned to Nigeria in the year 2012 where she signed on with Mavin Records. Her singing career began to receive widespread attention from Nigerians afterwards.
