PMB's Former Aide Asks INEC to Disqualify Peter Obi

Bashir Ahmad, former media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari has released a tweet asking the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to Disqualify Labour Party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi from contesting in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.  According to Bashir, Peter Obi's name isn't on the party's membership list submitted to the electoral body. He further stated that the membership list was submitted on April 25, while the candidate joined the party on May 26. He attached a letter previously written by the party as proof of his claim.

Bashir has preceding reputation for making rather unique requests to the Independent National Electoral Commission. In May 2022, Bashir Ahmad declared that he rejected the outcome of the APC's primary election in Gaya/Ajinji/Albasu federal constituency in Kano state. He rejected the results because he was unable to defeat an incumbent member in the primary election.
