Nigerian rapper, record producer and CEO of Incredible Music, Jude Lemfani Abaga better known as M.I Abaga, has revealed plans to change his stage name. The rapper tweeted :
“After 15 years as Mr. Incredible, I will be retiring the name MI Abaga and taking on a new name for my new project because my new album hard… and it deserves a new name. My final act as MI will be a performance at 'The Vibe' on the 10th of July where I will celebrate my legacy as Africa's greatest rapper.”
M.I Abaga is considered the Kanye West of Nigeria by many lovers of hip hop. M.I was CEO of the record label Chocolate City from 2015-2019. He announced his exit from the label in March 2020 and went on to launch his own record label Incredible Music. His last studio album A Study on Self Worth:Yxng Dxnzl was released in the year 2018. M.I won Best Hip Hop and Best New Act at the 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards.
Fans and lovers of Hip Hop have expressed surprised at the rebranding intention of the rapper. They however say that they look forward to seeing Mr Abaga bring his A-game in the release of his next album. There's after all a reason he's widely acclaimed as Africa's Greatest Rapper.
