The presidential candidate of the African Action Party, (AAC) Omoleye Sowore a few days ago, accused Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour party, of being sponsored by former Nigerian leaders who he said are the root causes of Nigeria's woos.
He said Peter Obi claims to be a man free of corruption but has proven otherwise by consistently associating with corrupt former leaders.
While speaking about Peter Obi to Steve Nwosu of the New Xpress Newspaper in his Minna home, Ibrahim Babangida described Peter Obi as an upright Nigerian who is passionate about Nigeria.
“He is a young man, but he is passionate about development, passionate about our Nigerianness,” Babangida disclosed. “From then, we kept contact for a long time. We talk to each other and so on.
He said his relationship with Mr. Peter Obi necessitated his coming to inform him about his presidential ambition necessary for him to advise him as well as help mobilize support for him
Furthermore, reacting to the allegation by Sowore that himself, former president Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdulsalam Ababakar, Gusau, etc., are working for Peter Obi's election as Nigeria's president, he noted that the aforementioned names have been active in Nigeria's Politics since 1998.

He further said:“I am hearing it now for the first time from you. Somebody sent me what Sowore said. That Obasanjo, Abdulsalami, Aliyu Gusau, Ango Abdullahi and myself are promoting Peter Obi. But I’m glad that the answer you said they gave Sowore was that he was jealous.”
