Activist Speaks Up as He Discovers 12 year old Adolescent Married to a 50 year old.

 Lucky Udu, filmmaker, poverty activist and director of the Nigerian Youth Congress has made a Facebook post bringing awareness to Nigerians on the plight of a 12 year old girl currently residing in Makurdi, Benue state, whose family married and sold off to a 50 year old man under the guise of receiving further education.  The young girl revealed to the activist that she instead found out she was brought down to be the man's third wife.

According to the underaged bride, the man already had two wives before she was given to him and all of his children are above the age of 20. The 12 year old further stated the old man beats her up ever night and tries to force himself upon her. He had however only succeeded once. She begged to be rescued by the activist.

In his post, Lucky Udu affirmed that he had reached out to organisations like NAPTIP Nigeria for help but their response had been slow and unenthusiastic. He therefore decided to bring the matter on social media so the girl could get the help she required.  Mr Udu also added that her current location was a small green house behind the primary health center in Adaka, Benue state Nigeria.  He also said that the community seemed to be protecting the man and there was only so much he (Mr Udu) could do with merely a phone and a camera.

Popular Human Rights Activist, Harrison Gwamnishu alongside other well-meaning Nigerians have also pledged their support to the cause of retrieving the adolescent from the sexual predator disguised as a husband.
