The opposition party, People's Democratic Party (PDP), has been grappling with internal wrangling since it conclusion of its presidential primary election.
The first runner-up in the presidential primary election and governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is understood to be unhappy over his inability to emerge the party's vice presidential candidate.
Reports have it that Nyesom Wike was backed by 11 PDP governors to emerge the party's vice presidential candidate; however, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the party decided to pick Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa in Wike expense.
Atiku Abubakar who has been accused of causing disunity among the stakeholders of the party, has through his Twitter handle, appealed to the aggrieved members of the PDP to know that they are treasured and that their grievances have been taken into consideration.
"The @OfficialPDPNig will remain united. Focus on our actions. We are taking action to address the feelings of all party members. The unity in our community is my priority. Our resolve to unify Nigeria starts in our party and moves to the community, then on to the society.
"Every Governor, Legislator, and other elected officials produced by our party, and party members and loyalists, are much loved and respected by me.
"When they speak, I listen. I do not only listen. Appropriate actions have been taken, are being taken, and will continue to be advanced", he tweeted
