The former Lagos State governor is reported to have informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that he does not have first school leaving certificate because he dropped out during his primary school education. The revelation from the presidential candidate of the APC raised doubt over the validity of his claim that he attended and graduated from University of Chicago. Despite the confirmation from the University that Bola Tinubu actually attended the school, many still doubt the possibility of his attending a university without the basic education requirements such as SSCE.
