Scottish Football Mourns Legendary Forward Jimmy Bone, Dead at 75

 

Tributes are pouring in following the death of Scottish football legend Jimmy Bone at the age of 75.

Bone is best remembered for his pivotal role in Partick Thistle’s historic 1971 League Cup triumph against Celtic and went on to enjoy an illustrious career with clubs including St Mirren, Hearts, and Arbroath.

Partick Thistle, St Mirren, Arbroath, and Airdrieonians have honoured him as both a remarkable player and a respected manager. Norwich City also paid tribute, recalling his place in history as the scorer of the club’s first-ever English top-flight goal.

Beyond his footballing achievements, Bone is remembered as an inspirational figure who left a lasting mark on teammates, supporters, and communities across Scotland and beyond.
