Scammer Posing as John Wick Cons Keanu Reeves Fan Out of ₹65,000 in Mumbai

The legendary assassin John Wick has found his way into headlines for all the wrong reasons—this time as the face of an online scam. A 69-year-old woman in Mumbai was defrauded of ₹65,000 after a con artist impersonated actor Keanu Reeves on Instagram.

According to police, the fraudster built trust with the victim through frequent chats before claiming he was travelling to India without access to local currency. The woman, believing the story, transferred funds via NEFT.

Her daughter, who lives in the UK, noticed the unusual bank activity and quickly alerted the Versova Police, prompting an investigation.

Officers say the scammer maintained daily conversations to appear genuine, exploiting the victim’s admiration for Reeves’ on-screen persona. Authorities are now working to trace those behind the scheme, warning the public against falling for celebrity impersonation scams that are becoming increasingly common online.
