Fisayo Soyombo is making headline with David Hundeyin in Nigeria as the two investigative journalists lock horns over Our Favorite Online Doctor, Olufunmi Ogunsanya, and past rape accusations.

The feud escalated on Sep 15, 2025, after FIJ, led by Soyombo, published a story revisiting 2020 assault claims against Ogunsanya, which had been previously alleged to be cleared.

Soyombo while adressing Doctor Olufunmilayo threw a sub at  David Hundeyin , referring to him as “the Twitter influencer masquerading as an investigative journalist who cowardly runs away from lawsuits,” signaling that he is prepared to legally defend FIJ globally.

He contrasted himself with others, stressing he will defend FIJ’s work in Nigeria, UK, US, or Barbados.

David Hundeyin had criticized FIJ’s report as biased. Soyombo accused Hundeyin of year-long “stealth attacks” on him and FIJ and challenged him to face lawsuits, making clear he would not shy away from legal consequences.

The tension traces back to ethical disagreements between the two since 2024, though they shared mutual respect in 2021.

Soyombo defended FIJ’s reporting on Ogunsanya, posting screenshots showing they contacted him on Sep 6 via email and WhatsApp, inviting him to provide any additional information, even a detailed, long response if he wished.

He expressed surprise that Ogunsanya publicly claimed otherwise.

Doctor Ogunsanya responded, claiming he was not allowed to tell his full side of the story, only nine “curated” questions, which he says were adversarial and biased.

He also says messages to Soyombo went unanswered for a week, and lawyers trying to reach FIJ were similarly ignored. He describes the reporting as largely one-sided and a “hit piece.”
