Kenyans highlight that Kibaki ranked top at Mang’u High School, graduated with First Class Honours in Economics from Makerere University, and became the first African to earn First Class Honours in Public Finance at the London School of Economics—achievements he never flaunted.

Many argue Ruto’s academic credentials pale in comparison, noting he never attained first-class honours. Critics add that while some leaders boast degrees and PhDs without real intellectual impact, Kibaki combined brilliance with humility, earning deep respect as both a scholar and a statesman.
