(In the U.K) Zack Polanski Elected Green Party Leader with Overwhelming Majority

Zack Polanski has been elected leader of the Green Party in England and Wales, securing a commanding 20,411 votes against Adrian Ramsay’s 3,705 and Ellie Chowns’ 3,705.

Formerly deputy leader and a London Assembly member, Polanski has pledged to reshape the party into a mass “eco-populism” movement, adopting a sharper, media-driven, and more combative approach aimed at rivalling Reform UK.

His victory marks a significant strategic shift for the Greens, moving beyond steady incremental growth through councillors and MPs toward broader public engagement and visibility. While Polanski insists that electoral success remains a core priority, his leadership is expected to emphasize bold messaging and a higher national profile.

Critics, including Ramsay and Chowns, have warned that Polanski’s left-leaning direction risks alienating moderate voters in rural constituencies where the Greens have established their strongest footholds.

Supporters, however, argue that his approach offers the momentum needed to expand the party’s reach and sharpen its relevance in a fast-changing political landscape.
