South Africa’s National Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola, has drawn attention for a series of startling disclosures during his testimony before the Commission of Inquiry.
Masemola revealed that a concerned party linked businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala—currently on trial for allegedly ordering a hit on his girlfriend—to the kidnapping of Jerry Boshoga. However, he noted that Matlala’s close ties to General Shadrack Sibiya made it impossible to ensure a fair investigation into the matter.
His testimony comes just a week after KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi also appeared before the inquiry, adding further weight to the proceedings.
The revelations have deepened scrutiny of alleged corruption and compromised investigations within law enforcement, sparking public debate about accountability and transparency at the highest levels of the police service.
