(In Nigeria) Police Arrest Man for Attempted Fake ‘Obi of Lagos’ Coronation


The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 65-year-old man, Engr. Chibuike Azubike, for attempting to crown himself as the “Obi of Lagos.”

Azubike, who hails from Imo State, was apprehended alongside three others accused of staging the unauthorized installation ceremony.

Authorities warned that Lagos already has recognized traditional rulers and cautioned against any unlawful coronations within the state. The police reiterated their commitment to preserving peace and protecting the sanctity of traditional institutions.
