IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu has asked the Federal High Court to move him from DSS custody to the National Hospital, Abuja, for urgent medical attention. His lawyers cited dangerously low potassium levels, pancreatic and liver complications, and a lump under his armpit as reasons for immediate hospital care.

However, the court declined to hear the motion, noting that the judge’s vacation had expired. Justice Musa Liman returned the case to the Chief Judge for reassignment but urged a speedy hearing, given the health concerns.
Kanu, who faces terrorism and treasonable felony charges, remains in DSS custody as his trial is set to continue on October 10, 2025, before Justice James Omotosho. His condition has reignited debate over his treatment in detention and intensified pressure on the judiciary for swift intervention.
