Critics accuse her of betraying human rights ideals and compromising the independence of the legal profession. Supporters, however, dismiss the uproar as fake tribal outrage, arguing she can use the role to deliver accountability and reparations for victims of state violence.

Odhiambo insists her decision is guided by justice, not politics, stressing that the panel offers an opportunity to influence government action from within.

The Media Council of Kenya has urged patience and fair reporting, condemning premature attacks before the panel begins its work.

With public opinion sharply divided, Odhiambo’s role is shaping up to be a defining test of trust, independence, and justice in Kenya’s legal community.
